My favorite part is this flashback, because it completely changes the emotional tone of the chapter:

He had warm eyes, warm like the sun on a spring day. Flecks of gold inlaid... He had a quiet way about him. Often, I’d find him sitting about the field, picking at the grass. I asked him once what he was doing and all he said was ‘listening.’

This is such a beautiful character introduction. Instead of describing Marcus as handsome or heroic, the author defines him through his quiet nature. That single word "listening" tells you more about his personality than an entire paragraph of physical description could. It immediately makes him feel gentle, thoughtful, and real.

Oh thank you so much! 🫶🏻 I’m so glad you thought so. It was one of my favorite parts to write as well.

I'm really happy to hear that! It honestly stood out to me because it felt so genuine and beautifully written. Moments like that are what make readers emotionally connect with a story.

While I was reading, a few visual ideas actually came to mind, especially for scenes like this one. As a professional digital artist, I naturally start imagining how certain moments could be brought to life visually. If you're interested, I'd love to share a few of those ideas with you. I think you might really enjoy them. 😊
